Removal and installation of coupling

On BMW cars of the 3rd series the self-established coupling is applied (SAC - Self Adjusting Clutch). At removal and installation of this coupling it is necessary to wring out press a disk the special BMW tool. The similar tool is available also for KLANN firm. Besides, the special aligning core of BMW or KLANN is necessary for installation of the conducted disk. Here working process with use of the BMW tool is described. If the KLANN tool is used, it is necessary to be guided by its description.


 REMOVAL

1 Remove RKPP, address to the Section Removal and the RKPP installation.

2 Record an engine flywheel at a gear wreath a screw-driver and a core or the special BMW-1-tool. There is a similar tool of KLANN KL-0110 firm.

The special BMW 21 2 160 or KLANN KL-0500-10 tool can be installed only in the points shown on an illustration, otherwise coupling can be damaged.

On an illustration coupling with the inserted aligning core is shown. The tool is not inserted yet.

3 Insert the adaptation for preliminary compression, address to an illustration. Tighten the screw-1-and check reliability of its situation.

4 Screw the screw-2-so that springs-3-contracted against the stop. Turn off bolts of fastening of a basket of coupling consistently on 1 – 1.5 turn so that to unload press a disk.

If all bolts turn away at once, owing to a distortion springs and pins of a basket of coupling and a flywheel can be damaged.

5 in summary completely turn out all bolts.
6 Take out a basket of coupling and the conducted disk.

Do not drop a basket and the conducted disk at removal, otherwise after assembly there can be malfunctions in coupling work.

7 Wipe a flywheel.


 CHECK

1 Check existence of zadir on a flywheel. At their existence the flywheel should be replaced. After each removal it is necessary to establish new special bolts. Tighten cross-wise bolts of fastening of a flywheel to a cranked shaft by the efforts presented in Specifications.

2 Check ease of rotation of the directing bearing (the radial ball-bearing). Otherwise remove the bearing a stripper, for example, of KLANN KL-0043-31 and press against the stop the new bearing a hammer and a brass core against the stop.
3 Remove the bearing of switching off of coupling from a basic pipe on RKPP and check, address to the Section Removal and installation of the bearing of switching off of coupling.

4 Check an adjacent surface of a press disk for existence of cracks, an overheat and wear. Press the disk having a deflection to 0.3 mm inside can be established. Check is made by a ruler and the probe.

5 Smooth out press a disk and a flywheel a micrometric skin.
6 Check coupling basket springs for existence of damages.
7 replace the Greasy or mechanically damaged disk.

8 Measure by a caliper thickness of frictional overlays of the conducted disk. For this purpose measure distance between a frictional surface and heads of rivets - And-.

The distance has to be measured at the closing head - And - but not at a mortgage head of a rivet - In-. The distance has to remain not less than 1.0 mm. Otherwise the disk needs to be replaced.



 INSTALLATION

At installation of new details the varnish for protection against corrosion should be removed only from frictional surfaces of a press disk and a flywheel. Not to an ogruzhayta also do not blow a coupling basket in solvent compressed air, otherwise does not guarantee functioning of the mechanism of adjustment of coupling.

Installation of the basket of coupling which was in the use

1 Shift an adjusting ring back. For this purpose establish a coupling basket together with the tool for a preliminary tightness on a pure lining. Record an adjusting ring a screw-driver at one of grooves-1-

2 Weaken the screw-2 the tool for a preliminary tightness so that it was possible to turn an adjusting ring a screw-driver.

The clamp-3-is inserted only when the adjusting ring is squeezed.


3 Turn to the left against the stop a screw-driver adjusting a ring at press elements-1-.

4 Insert a clamp-3-into a groove. Thus, the adjusting ring is fixed.
5 Screw the screw of the tension tool so that the diaphragm spring in a basket was pressed against the stop.
6 Insert a coupling disk into a flywheel.

Insert a disk correctly. For this purpose the disk of coupling has marking of "Getriebeseite" (the Party of a check point).


7 Align a coupling disk in a flywheel the adaptation-1-, for example, of BMW 21 2 142 or KLANN KL-0500.

The bolt-2-serves for removal of the adaptation on the established basket.

8 Put a coupling basket on the corresponding pins. Tighten bolts of fastening of a basket of coupling consistently on 1 – 1.5 turn so that it was fixed. Watch that at an inhaling of bolts the basket of coupling sat down on a flywheel evenly. The moment of an inhaling depends on a class of durability of bolts which is beaten out on a head of bolts. Address to Specifications.

9 Weaken the screw the tool for a preliminary tightness so that the spring in a basket was completely unloaded. Weaken the screw-1-and remove the adaptation.

10 Take out the aligning adaptation with a bolt-2-of the conducted disk. For this purpose screw a bolt and pull for it.

Installation of a new basket of coupling

11 Insert the conducted disk into a flywheel.

Insert a disk in the correct situation. For this purpose a disk "the Party of a check point" has marking.

12 Align a coupling disk in a flywheel the adaptation-1-for the directing bearing in cranked to a shaft, for example, the BMW 21 2 142 or KLANN KL-0500 adaptation.

The bolt-2-serves for removal of the adaptation in the established coupling basket.

13 Put a coupling basket on the corresponding pins. Tighten bolts of fastening of a basket of coupling consistently on 1 – 1.5 turn so that the disk was fixed. Watch that at an inhaling of bolts a basket of coupling it was involved in a flywheel evenly. The moment of an inhaling depends on a class of durability of bolts which is beaten out on a head of bolts, address to Specifications.

The lock element-1-is allowed to be deleted only at the fixed coupling basket. Turn out a lock element a face key of-2-by 14 mm rotation clockwise.

At a reversing of a lock element the diaphragm spring can publish characteristic noise to which it is not necessary to pay attention.


14 Extend the aligning adaptation a bolt from the conducted disk. For this purpose screw a bolt and pull for it.

15 Remove the aligning adaptation from a flywheel.

16 Grease grooves of shlitsevy connection of primary shaft of RKPP with a thin layer of ESSO UNIREX greasing.

Do not apply too much greasing, otherwise it can get on frictional surfaces of coupling and cause coupling failures. The necessary amount of greasing corresponds to about a size of grain of rice. Then move in different directions the conducted disk on RKPP shaft so that the nave easily went on a shaft. Remove surplus of greasing.

17 Establish RKPP, address to the Section Removal and the RKPP installation.
