BMW of the 3rd series can be equipped with the automatic transmission (AT). In the course of start-off from a place of AT carries out function of ordinary coupling, and during the movement performs work on gear shifting.

The AT main hubs are: torque converter, planetary reducer and hydraulic or electronic control system. Hydrodriving disk brakes and disk coupling are applied to transition to another transfer the relation in a planetary reducer.

Control of effort of pressing when switching is exercised by the electronic device instead of the hydraulics applied in usual by a check point. The considered control system of BMW firm has designation of AGS (Adaptive Getriebesteuerung) (An adaptive control system of transmission).
